Diane & R-Chie are engaged! /// Jacksonville Proposal Photographer

When I first heard about Diane & R-Chie’s love story, I couldn’t help but laugh at how similar it was to ours.  Diane, who is from Jacksonville, and R-Chie, who is from San Diego, met online and for 8 years have been in a long distance relationship.  Because of all the distance and different states life has taken them to, R-Chie wanted to include that somehow into his proposal to Diane.  R-Chie teamed up with a fabulous company called The Yes Girls who help guys plan and put together a memorable and personal proposal, and we’re excited to also team up with them to document proposals in the Jacksonville area.  With The Yes Girls help, they created wood cut outs of each of the states R-Chie and Diane have lived in, with a compass map showcasing each form of communication that primarily took place.  What started with emails in California, turned to long telephone calls, turned to hand written letters, turned to a beautiful diamond ring waiting at the end of the map where R-Chie got on his knee and Diane said an excited “Yes!” Right after, both of their families were waiting in the wings as they watched from a close by balcony and then ran out to greet them and ooh and ahh over the ring!

Here’s some of our favorites photos from their beautiful proposal!

Jacksonville Children’s Photographer

Eden and Abby’s sister portrait session was full of all my favorite girly things: cupcakes, pearls, a white picket fence, and big floppy hats. They are the daughters of Jacksonville’s best wedding DJ (at least in our eyes!), DJ Jacob Towe, and we had a fun time playing dress up and documenting these cutie sisters at this precious time in their lives.

I just love this session. I got a little teary scrolling through. I so badly wanted Prissy to have a sister! The one of them holding hands and walking away? I love. LOVE! And those hats… oh, the floppy hats!

Jacksonville Senior Photographer

In the future, I guarantee you that you’ll be watching a movie with Kaitlyn’s name as the director.  This budding filmmaker is a Senior in Jacksonville this year with dreams of outdoing Spielberg one day.  For her fashion senior photoshoot, she brought an old vintage Brownie video camera that used to be her grandmother’s, and Stephen got the fun idea to wrap her up like a mummy for fun in the old film reel.  We had such a blast photographing her bright blue eyes and bubbly personality while she rocked it out in her Betsey Johnson dress and cheetah heels.

Class of 2013 Senior GIRLS,

We’re still booking Senior Sessions for this year!  If you didn’t like how your standard ones turned out, or keep waiting to the last minute to get them done, now is the perfect time to reserve your date as this cool weather starts to set in!  If you know Kaitlyn, ask her for more details on how you can also get Senior Photos you LOVE!  Email us at scarlett@scarlettlovesstephen.com for more info about how to book YOUR session!

Fashion Bridal Shoot for Lenna Bea Veils

At the time of our wedding, I was excited to cross paths with a super talented mother daughter team who made super fabulous wedding veils.  I knew I wanted something out of the box and not your standard traditional bridal veil, and these girls were able to take my vision and create an amazing custom veil/fascinator/headpiece/gorgeousness.  They have a popular store on Etsy where you can buy directly their head pieces as well as sashes, bracelets and more. They were recently in need of some updated product inventory photos for their portfolio, so we had fun teaming up to rock it out for a fresh portfolio for them.  For brides looking for something extraordinaroy to add to their wedding day style, I can’t recommend enough these wonderful ladies, Cindy and her daughter Lenna Bea.  Not only are they talented at what they do, they have beautiful hearts and are a pleasure to work with whether you are ordering from their existing products or creating something custom.  These ladies happen to be local to Jacksonville, but ship products to brides all over the world.  To meet these ladies further, here’s fun behind the scenes video we did with Cindy and Lenna Bea last year!

The land of Lowes. // Guest bathroom makeover

It started with me saying to Stephen, “Hey babe, let’s makeover our office this summer.”

But then, as we begin the process and go into Lowes for just paint and a paintbrush, it then turned into, “Ooooh, we should replace our sinks in all the bathrooms”, and “Oohhh what about these new light fixtures” and the list goes on.  So what started with a simple redecorating of our office, has then expanded to other parts of the house.  While the office is still under construction, we have currently wrapped up our guest bathroom.  Now mind you, we are NOT “do it yourself” kind of people, but we found this to be a very good exercise for our marriage to give it a whirl.  In the past week as worked on the guest bathroom, we’ve had our fair share of water drop on our head as we tried to learn Plumbing 101 in replacing the sink, we’ve gained muscle holding up the light fixture that wouldn’t fit right because the right size screws didn’t come in the box, aaaaaaand don’t get me started on my oh so crappy drywall job as we removed the previous towel bar and mirror on the wall.  My dad, who was a drywall contractor for a living, would be oh so disappointed.  But my solution?  Figure out a creative way to cover it up!  And what better than with inspirational B&W photography photos! ha!

Here’s the before and after our of guest bathroom.  The office and more to come soon as we accomplish it!

We painted the wall with chalkboard paint because we decided it would be fun for our guests to leave messages on the wall when they stay with us.  The new light fixture is from Lowes, turned upside down.  And I found this fabulous white glossy glam mirror at Wayfair.com by Cooper Classics.

The new black sink is from Lowes.  I still can’t believe we replaced our own sinks.  I never thought I’d see the day where either Stephen or I were under a sink with a wrench.  But we did learn in the midst of this where our emergency water turn off main is to the house.  Never knew that existed before hand, and apparently it’s important to know where this is in case of flooding.  Do you know where yours is?  ha!

Fabulous photography ripped from magazines to hide my un-fabulous drywall job behind it when taking down the previous towel rack.  But it actually ended up going really well with our black and white theme bathroom!  And I *think* I got the friend signs from Hobby Lobby years ago.
