The Rottgers Family /// Jacksonville Beach Family Photographer

There’s something so beautiful about seeing a friend from high school grow up to be not only a wife, but a mommy.  It’s been over 10 years since I’ve seen my dear friend Liz, but now she’s all grown up and has a beautiful family.  Though she lives many states away now, her family vacationed recently in Jacksonville Beach, and she had Stephen and I take some family photos for her now that her little Henry is turning 1-year-old.  Despite an ear infection and lots of drizzling rain, we were able to get a lot of laughs out of her sweet boy.  Mostly from his dad doing the hokey pokey… and he turned himself around.  That’s what it’s all about.  I hope when Henry grows up and looks at these photos, that he never lets his dad live down that moment.  For now though, those photos particular photos of his daddy doing the Hokey Pokey will remain for their eyes only.

Here’s some of our favorites from the shoot!

Jacksonville Senior Photographer

This future forensic scientist had a few requests for her senior session.  First, that it be at the beach, second that it not look like everyone else’s photos.  She wanted something a little more fashion forward because she knows, this is her one moment in life to shine.  Graduating early in December, she’s excited to start her college career earlier than most.  But even though she has her heart set on being a scientist, if that fails, I personally think she could fall back on being a fashion stylist I just adored her outfit and accessory choices!

Here’s our favorites from the session.  Stephen really killed it on the off camera lighting shots at the end of this shoot.  And so did Kristen.  Watch out world.. as Katy Perry says, you’re gonna hear her roar!

Jacksonville Senior Photographer

This future dentist is the pastor’s oldest daughter at our church, Mandarin Baptist Church.  In the year that we’ve known her since her family moved from Birmingham, Alabama, we’ve learned she completely takes advantage of the fact that she now lives near the beach, and most weekends you can find her out there hanging with her girlfriends.  So naturally, she wanted her senior session at the beach too!  She also has a passion for missions and has already been to Haiti two times in the past few months, where she said she left her heart and hopes to continuing going back to volunteer at an orphanage our church supports.

Here’s a few of our favorites from her senior session!

We only have 2 available spots open for YOUR Senior Session before September 13.  Reserve your session today by emailing scarlett@scarlettlovesstephen.com!

Gray & Wade are married! // Chattanooga TN Wedding Photographer

As we previously wrote about in Gray & Wade’s engagement session a few days before their wedding, Gray and Wade fell in love on the dance floor at his sister’s wedding.  They’ve been dancing together ever since and with no care of the Tennessee summer heat, they and their friends danced the night away now at their own wedding.  A few times I watched Wade completely pick up his bride and twirl her and her dress in the air around the dance floor.  One of those times Gray turned to me and said “Now you see why I married him!”

We loved traveling to Tennessee to shoot this outdoor nature wedding.  With the sprawling fields and horse farm in the background, it was such an amazing change of scenery to document through our camera.  With Gray’s love of horses growing up on a horse farm, she wanted a wedding that reflected her outdoor nature.  ”I’m more of a kick your heels off and go barefoot kind of girl,” she told us during the engagement session.  So on her wedding day, you saw her in flats until she finally did kick off even those shoes to dance the night away.

But what I loved most about this wedding day was the absolute emotion behind many of these photos.  Every time I turned the corner, Gray was crying even more tears of joy, and my eyes watered with her seeing how truly happy she was on this day she has waited so long for.  She has been used to capturing other bride’s wedding days as a wedding photographer herself.  But today… she was no longer the photographer, she was the bride and she felt so honored to be marrying the man of her dreams.  And you saw that in every tear that fell throughout the day.

Here’s some of our favorites from the shoot and the awesome vendors we worked with:

Wedding Showcased in Grace Ormonde’s Wedding Style Magazine

Sometimes Stephen and I show up to weddings and pinch ourselves that we were lucky enough to be chosen to document a couple’s most important wedding day. Between the love, the family, the details…. Jen and Steve’s destination wedding in Miami, FL was one of those weddings where everything was perfect, and I knew walking away from all the amazingness at the end of the night, “This wedding is GOING to get published somewhere!”

When we got the news that Grace Ormonde’s Wedding Style magazine picked up their wedding, Jen and I both shared a few squeals over text message.  Not only was I so excited for her to get the beauty of her wedding day showcased, I was excited over achieving a personal career goal.  From the time I began my photography career in 2006, I said, “One day, I’m going to get a wedding published in Grace Ormonde!”  Now having accomplished that with Stephen, and for our amazing couple Jen and Steve, it still feels surreal.  For so long, I have looked up to the work of the photographers who have been showcased in the magazine over the years, and it is a true honor for Stephen and I to now be published alongside them.

Below is a sneak peak of the spread now on news stands nationwide and international at most grocery stores, CVS, Barnes & Nobles and here on their website.

A quick little pic from our phone of the excitement we felt the first time we saw the magazine on newsstands in Barnes & Nobles!
