Aubrey Jo is 3! /// Nashville Children’s Photographer

Each year, we’ve had the privilege of watching this sweet girl grow up in front of our camera. Having documented her since her first birthday, and each year that follows, it’s such a joy to watch who she is growing up to become.  This year as she turns 3, she was one big bundle of energy.  Fascinated with the bright colorful leavings falling here in Nashville, Aubrey Jo, also known as “Priss” to those who love her dearly, had a blast running and running and running all around during the shoot.  Priss and her mom Julianne live on a big piece of land in the middle of Georgia, so Priss is in that stage of exploring every little territory she can get her pink boots on.  As Julianne said, “I don’t know if we got any Pinterest worthy shots today, but this is actually who Priss is at this age.”  Julianne even let Priss pick out her own outfit so she could feel she has ownership of representing her personality of who she is as a 3-year-old.  Rocking her cheetah headband like a pirate, she enjoyed playing swords with her mom with the long stem roses we used during parts of the shoot, or showing off her stick she found.  She might have been in a tutu during past years photoshoots, but this year she’s definitely starting to show she just might be a little bit more tom boy at heart.

Here’s some of my favorite photos from the afternoon playing with Priss and her momma!

And we are still accepting portrait sessions in the Nashville area for the holiday season.  Get your session reserved as soon as possible to allow time for processing and ordering Christmas cards!  Email scarlett@scarlettlovesstephen.com to reserve your session with us!

I love this shoot! You have captured the true spirit of this sweet little girl and her momma. What a cherished gift for her to have these beautiful memories captured forever. As always, a fantastic job! Thank you for sharing your talent! ~Jen

Scarlett & Stephen,

As usual fantastic photos! I especially like the one where the sun is shining in between them while she’s holding her daughter. It reminds me that the love of God shines brightly between a mother and her child. Beautiful work!

Our “glamping” photoshoot got published!

I can’t believe we are already seeing Christmas pop up everywhere.  From the Red Cups at Starbucks, to 24/7 Christmas movies on Hallmark Channel from now until the end of the year (sniff sniff, I miss my Golden Girls each night as I fall asleep), to our own neighborhood and neighbors already putting up Christmas lights…. I just can’t believe it’s already that time of year again slowly creeping up around the corner.  (I try to boycott as long as possible because I’m one of those that actually likes celebrating Thanksgiving season, even though with my birthday on Christmas day, I can’t help but secretly like that Christmas has become a 2-month celebration!)

Last year, Stephen and Rhett and I did a super fun Christmas card with a “Glamping” theme (Glam+Camping) shot by our photographer friend Sarah DeShaw and her husband Brent, and styled by Dairing Events.  As I try to brainstorm on how to top that this year, I was excited to see that our Glamping shoot got published in a wedding planner magazine, Inspire Smart Success.  Here’s the showcase of our shoot!

Love the concept. Now that’s my idea of roughing it.

When was the last time you had a photoshoot with your family?

It’s that time of year!

Gather your family and get this year’s portrait session booked!

For the first time ever, this born and bred Florida girl is experiencing the change of seasons now in our new Nashville home.  I see leaves changing colors daily, and slowly floating to the ground and it reminds me that the holidays are right around the corner.

After a small break from our photography business to make the big move from Jacksonville, FL to Nashville, TN, Stephen and I are now settled in our new home and ready to reserve your holiday family portrait sessions.  We love this time of year when families go in front of our camera to document this moment in time when their little ones will never be this little again.  Or when couples bring along their fur children, because after all, they are family too.  Whether you are looking for updated family photos for your Christmas card, or Christmas gifts, or just because, we are only accepting a limited number of portrait sessions from now until Thanksgiving.

Our session fee for family photoshoots is $300 with an Order Appointment to follow to select your favorite images to print and preserve in albums.

JACKSONVILLE/NORTHEAST FLORIDA:  Though we are now in Nashville, we are also reserving sessions back home in Jacksonville.  We will be back the week of November 18, and have TWO openings available.  Don’t hesitate to reserve your spot with us while we are back in town before spots fill up quickly!

NASHVILLE: We encourage you to get your photoshoot in before Thanksgiving to allow proper turn around time for albums and custom Christmas cards to process.

For all our other clients near and far, we are always available for travel!

To reserve your session, please email scarlett@scarlettlovesstephen.com and we will be happy to send you more info about your session with us!

We look forward to seeing you and your loved ones in front of our cameras soon!

Jessica & Rick are engaged! // Jacksonville Engagement Photographer

A few years back, before Stephen and I teamed up, I had the pleasure of photographing a fashion shoot for Jessica.  It was pictures she wanted simply for herself during a time when she was single and fabulous and learning to stand on her own two feet as a woman.  Come to find out, all these years later, it was during a time she and her then boyfriend now finance Rick were taking a break.  Their love story dates back to 1996, and having been high school sweethearts, their relationship lead to an engagement that they realized wasn’t the right for them then.  After taking a few years off from each other, they realized in the past year, their hearts are never far from each other and that in the end, they were simply meant to be together in the end.  A few weeks ago, Rick brought her previous engagement ring out of the safety deposit box he had it stored in all this time, and this time around, told her to put it back on and never take it off again.  As Jessica said, “I’ve come to realize that he is the man I can live with and the man I cannot live without.”  And as we watched Rick embrace the love of his life, Stephen and I could see it in his eyes that he felt the same about her.  ”I am very excited that I have my heart back!” Jessica said.

Here’s some of our favorite photos below from their engagement session!

p.s. Fun fact about Rick… you might recognize him from a recent E! television show.  He was a character on the Ryan Lochte show that aired this summer.

These are beyond fantastic! Creative and innovative. Rick and Jess are good friends of mine from high school and like you and they have said, I can’t picture either one of them with anyone else. I’m so thrilled to see these photos, really, job well done!!!
Love you guys,

RickSeptember 13, 2013 - 5:56 pm

Very good. I am very happy. These are two fantastic, smart and beautiful people. Jessica, you have been committed and patient and want to thank you for that. You hold a special place in my heart.

Rick, you have been very successful and we are all proud of your achievements. May the very best, beyond expectations, come your way.

Nashville here we come! // Nashville Portrait Photographers

So we have some exciting news to share!  You might have seen us hinting on Instagram with all our recent visits…. But drumroll please……..

We’re moving to Nashville!

While we’re super excited about starting over in a brand new creative city, we’re bittersweet about leaving Jacksonville and all our friends and amazing clients we’ve had the chance to serve over the years.  Yet, in general, most of our clients live all over, with some already in Nashville, and as much as we already travel for shoots and weddings, we’ll be back and forth to the Jacksonville area often for more photoshoots (and to see family!). So YES, we are still accepting Jacksonville area bookings!

As we start over in a brand new place, we need YOUR help to get the word out that we’ll now be based in Nashville!  Starting October 1, we’ll be accepting bookings for portrait sessions as we gear up toward Christmas card family portrait season.  If you live in the Nashville area, or nearby, or know anyone that does, please let them know we will soon be available to take on new shoots for portrait sessions.  We specifically love photographing families, toddlers, and senior sessions!  Here’s where you can view our portrait photography work:

In the meantime, while we take the next few weeks off to transition in the move, you can get on the waiting list for portrait sessions, both upcoming in Nashville, and a few spots remaining this year in Jacksonville, by emailing scarlett@scarlettlovesstephen.com!

While we also love shooting weddings and it has been an incredible ride photographing weddings all over the world, in the new year, we are scaling back and will begin only taking on a small amount of weddings.  If you are an upcoming bride, or know an upcoming bride, please contact us as soon as possible through the contact form above to reserve your date with us before we cap off how many we will take on in 2014.

Lastly, if you are a photographer that follows our work, we are in the midst of planning some exciting educational things to share with you once we get settled in our Nashville home.  Leave us a comment below and let us know what you would like to see specifically from us as we prepare new material to share with you in the coming year.  We would love to hear from you on how we can help you grow your own photography business!

As we “move” into this new chapter of our lives and careers, we just want to say a special thank you to everyone who has helped us along the way as we have grown our businesses in Jacksonville, had our cameras lead us all over the world, and been a constant support whether as a client or a friend who encouraged us along the way of joining our two photography businesses now as a husband and wife team, and in addition, a new design business.  Every day we feel so blessed that we get the opportunity to use our creative gifts to serve in the lives of so many others, and we are thankful for…… you.

p.s. If you are reading this and live in the Nashville area, please say hi!  We would love to meet you at one of those hip coffee places once we arrive in town!

Congratulations!! I’m so excited for you guys. I’m just a little bummed because I hoped we would get to work together again. After Kacy & Ross’s wedding I got re-energized for my event business. It’s great to work with professionals who make the day go without a hitch. Best wishes to you both! I’m excited to see the many ways God continues to bless you personally and professionally! Blessings, Jen
